European bicycle routes Euro Velo 6

The European bicycle routes Euro Velo are made up to 12 routes, totalling over 66, 000 km of which about 45,000 km is already in place. One of its bicycle routes, EuroVelo 6 : a nearly 4,000 km long bicycle routes, largely completed, linking the Atlantic with the Black Sea, crossing 10 countries and following the course of Europe's largest rivers. The Franche-Comté region is lucky enough to have 187 km of the bicycle trail on its territory. The European bicycle routes in Franche-Comté

In Doubs
Closely entwined with the course of the Doubs from Saint-Vit in the South to Allenjoie in the North of France, the bicycle trail Veloroute, the Doubs leg of the euro-bicycle-route from Nantes to Budapest, stretches over 135 km. A waterside track full of discoveries reserved for cyclists, roller skates, pedestrians or people with reduced mobility.

A detour through the forest of Chaux takes the visitor to the Royal Salt pits at Arc-et-Senans (listed Unesco world heritage site), he can cool down in the grotte d’Osselle caves before going on to see Besançon, capital of the Comté with its citadel, then Baume-les-Dames (heritage city), Comté clock towers and flower decked villages as far as Montbeliard, where Peugeot sports its lion brand. The whole route of the European bike tours is an invitation to cultural discoveries. Twelve technical stages allow for stops for repair or hire, such as the Relais Velo at the entrance to aux Besançon, an essential rallying point for long distance cyclist ! In the Jura region

In Belfort
The Belfort is a French department from East to West for 10 km, on the banks of the Rhône-Rhine Canal. All along the way there are different activities for you to enjoy: the Gantner multimedia space at Bourogne, the Romanesque church and turning bridge over the canal at Froidefontaine, the traditional French crafts museum at Brebotte…it ends where the waters of the Rhône meet the Rhine, at a river dock and camping car park with a tourist information point at Montreux-Château; different accommodation possibilities all along the route. There are two ways to get back to Belfort from the European bicycle route: by taking the green corridor along the Haute-Saône canal at Montbeliard, or by small empty country trail (about 15 km).
