Malsaucy Lake

baignade-lac-malsaucyLocated 6 kilometres north-west of Belfort, Lake Malsaucy is a lake with a surface area of 64 ha, making it the largest lake in the Territory of Belfort. It stretches over 3 separate communes: Evette-Salbert, La Chapelle-sous-Chaux and Sermamagny.

It is a great favourite with rock fans, because it is here that the famous Belfort Eurockéennes festival is held, and which attracts over 80,000 music lovers a year.

It is a great spot for observing wildlife and also serves as a leisure and water sports centre: sailing, mountain biking, etc.

The Départemental Environment Centre, which is set on the lakeside, will teach you everything you want to know about the local flora and fauna, and will also help you know more about how to protect the environment.

eurockeennes-de-belfortThe international rock festival Eurockeennes

The international rock festival Eurockeennes has been taking place on the peninsula of Malsaucy near Belfort / France since 1989.

Eurockeennes is one of the best known festivals in France having built up a reputation in it's 20 years of existence for its diverse range of artists and for showcasing International talent with three open stages, one marquee and a sound system alongside home-grown French artists. The festival appeals to music fans of any genre.

The setting for the festival is beautiful, surrounded by lakes and hills with one of the stages on the beach. The food and drink stalls are numerous and filled with a wide variety of different things to tempt your taste-buds a far cry from the overpriced standard fare found at some of UK festivals.

The campsite is located a short walk along a disused rail line from the festival site although shuttles run regularly for those who don’t fancy the scenic stroll. The campsite is really well organized and there are plenty of facilities to keep you occupied including food / drink stalls, entertainment and dancing.
