Description Detail Nearby Situation Photos

A few minutes on foot from the centre of Belfort, can be found Forges lake and its reed park, just waiting to take you on an invigorating and instructive nature walk. Some of the areas on the banks of this lake are the habitat to fauna and flora which may be observed using an interesting collection of discovery material: - An observation point from where you can discretely follow the frolics of coots and other ducks, great-crested grebes as they dive into the water and the grey heron's look-out post. - A wooden footbridge, 60 metres long, passes through a forest of aulders and willows, liable to flooding, in an atmosphere straight from Louisiana. - Ten or so observation tables to explain the history, geology, fauna and flora of this site. Along the 4-kilometre trail you will meet different types of surroundings and vegetation, such as: broad-leaved forests, ponds, streams, meadows and pasture where farm animals live, some houses and neatly looked-after vegetable gardens
