The Haut-Jura Regional Natural Park
Thanks to the Upper Jura Regional Nature Park, 91 towns and villages, three départements, Ain, Doubs and Jura, and two regions, Franche-Comté and Rhône-Alpes, have been brought together to serve a common end, which goes some way beyond the purely environmental aspect to encompass the management of land and the improvement of water quality, which is a particular concern.
Above all, there is a desire to ensure the Jura mountains thrive economically, respecting their own identity, their traditions and their speciality activities: agriculture and in particular cheeses (mont d’or, comté, bleu de Gex, the wood industry, the craft industries (clock making, white cooperage, diamond cutting) and tourism.
From Val de Mouthe in the north to Bellegarde in the south, from Moirans in the west to Divonne-les-Bains.
At its eastern end, the Upper Jura Regional Nature Park is representative of all the Jura mountain zones, and in 1998 opened up to its genuine vocation as a mountain range.
