Gustave Courbet wrote: "To paint a country, you must know it well. I know my land, and I paint it. The woodland is our home. This river is the Loue. Go and see it, and you will see my paintings.

After the Courbet exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris, discover the leading exponent of the Realist School in his home. Immerse yourselves in the atmosphere of his paintings by visiting Ornans, Courbet's birthplace, a little village of character in Franche-Comté nicknamed "Little Green Venice" and the Loue Valley, the land which gave him his inspiration.
Enter the world of painter along the Courbet Trail and along the way discover reproductions of the master's paintings in the places which inspired him so much.
