This walk in the Vosges foothills takes you through fairy-tale landscapes across the spellbinding Thousand Lakes Plateau, a strange place with wild, scenic middle-mountain environments streaked by waterfalls and streams and dotted by variously sized lakes. You'll ramble over peat bogs – outlandish geological phenomena with their own special flora – and moors covered by birch, broom and juniper.

All along the way, you'll notice how much the local residents care about their land and how much nature and humans are interconnected. The people here have developed fish farming, dammed streams and built oil mills. Lakes, hills, streams and deep forests create an air of mystery.

The 20 km stages are not particularly difficult but require hikers to be fit.
